The Lord called her home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 where she was reunited with her husband John. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart and eagerness to help those in need. We are so thankful that Katherine was so kind, caring, understanding and patient. She went above and beyond for my family during the sad event of my sisters passing. Once we made our decision, everything came off without a hitch and no mistakes or surprises. Their manner was very professional but at the same time very warm and comforting.

After Mike's graduation, his brother, Rusty, decided he would follow Mike in the funeral business and enrolled at Commonwealth. He eventually joined Mike at his place of employment at another funeral home where the pair worked for 5 years before deciding to open their own business in 1990. They have been co-owners and operators of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home for 30 years. Mike and his family attend First Baptist Church where he serves as Elder. Rusty is a licensed funeral director and embalmer with 45 years of experience and is the President of the company. He is a member of ANICO Articulators Toastmasters Club, the Galveston Island Camp of Gideons International and serves as a chaplain at the Galveston County Jail.
 They were patient, professional, and attentive in our time of loss.  They made a tough situation a bit easier to deal with.  I know they cared because they showed they cared. Mike, co-owner and Secretary/Treasure of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, has a long history in the funeral business. Upon graduating high school, Mike entered Commonwealth College of Sciences where he earned degrees in funeral directing and embalming.
She was willing to help us in any way she could. She also gave us sound advice when asked for.  We are grateful to tthe funeral home for.
